SUNAPEE BOARD OF SELECTMEN
MEETING

Monday, December 21, 2009

Present: Stephen White Chairman, William Roach Vice-Chairman, Charlotte Brown, Emma Smith, Donna Nashawaty, Town Manager

Also present: Xan Gallup Chairman Library Trustees, Jon Walden Library Director, Lois Gallup, Tracy Nangeroni, Peter Urbach, Rhonda Gurney, Faith Reney, Barbara Chamlers, Terri White, Representative Suzanne Gottling, Mary Epremium, Shawn Hastings, Anne Nilsen, Jean Wilson, John Wilson, Sharon Montambeault, Skip Hause, Thel Hause, Robert Blakley, Sally Southard.

Jon Walden and Xan Gallup presented the Board with a breakdown of the costs for the mold remediation at the Abbott Library. Jon Walden explained that after further testing higher amounts of toxic mold were found in the downstairs Children Librarian’s office. Both Jon Walden and Xan Gallup felt for the public health and safety of the library patrons and staff that the problem needed to be addressed immediately. Several residents spoke supporting the Library Director and Library Trustees, stating that immediate remediation should be taken and the following motion was made:
We, the Board of Selectmen request approval for an emergency expenditure in the amount of $20,000, which will come from unreserved fund balance for mold remediation and repairs to the affected area by Selectman Roach, seconded by Selectman Smith. All in Favor.
